Piranhas in Peru

While vacationing in Peru, I went on a real jungle cruise. We were told that it was "safe" to swim in the Amazon River even though there were piranhas. Not to worry according to the guides, these piranhas don't eat people. They did however demonstrate the piranha's appetite by dropping a meat-baited hook into the water, which came back with a piranha attached.. No way was I going in there! Until my dad decided to push me in!!! I swear I never touched the water as I scrambled back onto dry land. Needless to say, I was scarred for life.
