Mexico was closed!!

At age 18 I drove to San Diego for my 1st trip to Tijuana. When we got to San Diego friends were saying they heard that Mexico was closed. We argued saying that it's Mexico, not 7-11! We arrived at the border to find out that it was election weekend and that they do not serve alcohol on election weekends. For us Mexico WAS closed!!
