Ranger visit

When I was much, much younger I went to northern Maine with my friend Garnett. We were in college and poor so we camped along the way. As we drove around the nearly full state park we ran into a campsite inhabited with a group of girls about our age and spent the next few hours visiting with them. Around 1:30 we went looking for a campsite. We amazingly found the perfect spot in the pitch black moonless night, so we pitched our tent and crashed for the night. Around 5am a ranger came by and asked us who said we could camp here. In a sleep induced panic we said a park ranger had told us to park here. The ranger obviously didn't believe us, but we stuck to our story. The ranger asked us to come out of our tent. Once we exited we immediately knew why he did not believe us. It seems that we had pitch our tent in the middle of the park's main road. To this day neither Garnett nor I have been back to that park.
